Tips and information to make your business green and efficient

What is Energy Efficiency?

So what is energy efficiency? Of course, energy efficiency is doing the same thing only with less energy. But the big question is why does it matter, what are practical examples and how can everyday businesses benefit from energy efficiency.

In this example I’m using an old high intensity discharge high bay light and an equivalent LED light. The old light consumes 426 watts whereas the new LED light is brighter and only consumes 149 watts of energy.

A business that has its lights on 12 hours per day every day of the year and that converts one of these lights to LED would save $170. If that business had 20 of these lights and converted them all, that would lead to a savings of nearly $3400 annually.

The electricity savings after converting the lights to LED usually pay for the install cost in about 2 years. But many provinces have energy efficiency rebates that help lower the return on investment to around 1.5 years.

Of course, energy efficiency doesn’t just apply to lighting. We can help you improve the efficiency of many of the systems you rely on in your business. If you like to learn more get in touch, we’re here to help you save money and lower your environmental footprint.
